Student Volunteers Needed for The Soccer Tournament June 1-4

Organizers of The Soccer Tournament set for June 1-4 at  WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary are recruiting DPT student volunteers.  Students would work in the Athlete’s Village alongside athletic trainers, sports PTs, and sports medicine physicians to help care for the athletes before and after their matches.

The $1-million-dollar winner-take-all World Cup-style format tournament will feature world-famous players and clubs, including West Ham United (ENG), Wrexham (WAL), Necaxa (MEX), Wolverhampton (ENG), the US Women’s National Team Alumni, which is coached by Mia Hamm; the US Men’s National Team Alumni which has members Damarcus Beasley and Jimmy Conrad; Charlotte FC and the Duke Alumni Team.

The sessions are as follows:

Thursday, June 1

7:30 AM – 3:30 PM; 3:30 PM – 10:30 PM 

Friday, June 2

7:45 AM – 3:30 PM; 3:30 PM – 9:45 PM

Saturday, June 3

11:30 AM – 6:00 PM; 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM

Sunday, June 4

 Along with getting hands-on experience, student volunteers will receive free entry to the event, a T-shirt, and a meal (for working at least four hours).  Students should email Ryan Kimball with details about their availability for the specified shifts and/or with any questions.
