We asked the DGSs and DGSAs what they appreciate about the SoM Graduate Students and here is what they said:
- I appreciate our Graduate Students brilliance and energy! The students are what make me love my work! I love watching their confidence soar as they navigate their path from their first year to defense.
- I truly appreciate the hard work, dedication and individuality of each and every one of our graduate students.
- Our graduate students are great and much appreciated. They go over and above to help our department thrive and stay connected. They are always willing to lend a helping hand and make our community a better place. Besides all the physical things they do to help out, they are kind, caring and compassionate! As a DGSA, working with our graduate students is the best!
- I appreciate their hard work in achieving their goals.
- I appreciate their help and support in my new role.
- I appreciate the welcoming of new ideas and openness to explore new process.

- I'm always amazed at how our students go above and beyond to improve the program. The program is one of a kind because of their support.

- Spring is my favorite time of year with grad students because I see all of their hard work come to fruition with graduation, landing spectacular positions, or continuing with another education program. I get joy from THEIR joy and pride in their accomplishments.

- Grad students bring a variety of talents with them that are outside of their field of study. I enjoy learning about their "outside" skills.

- So many things! Graduate students keep us young, and the work fresh and exciting. You help remind us about the mission of our departments with your enthusiasm. Having the chance or host events with grad students is always something to look forward to given the energy you bring. Grateful for the chance to collaborate with our MS and PhD students.
- Infectious enthusiasm for science, discovery, and learning new things.
- My favorite thing about graduate students is the connections they form between the labs at Duke. When students from one lab talk with students from another lab they cross-pollinate the science of both groups. Students are the engines of collaboration.
