What inspired you to pursue this degree?
I want to help improve access to physical therapy for underserved populations, particularly Latino communities where physical labor is a way of life. Furthermore, language barriers and a lack of health insurance often prevent these individuals with orthopaedic injuries from seeking care.
Why did you choose Duke?
I choose Duke because of the opportunities and support students receive to grow and develop both personally and professionally.
Do you have a favorite memory from your program?
Going to basketball games in Cameron.
How do you hope to make an impact with your career?
I want to help bridge the language barrier gap and improve physical therapy access to Hispanic populations.
What was the most important thing you learned at Duke?
The most important thing I learned is what it means to provide holistic patient-centered care and the value of interdisciplinary work among patient care.
