Registration open: Gopen Writing Seminar and Write Winning Grants Seminars
Registration is now open for a series of seminars to be held this summer in support of scholarly writing and grantwriting for Duke faculty, trainees, and staff.
Gopen Writing Seminar: An in-person seminar by the legendary Dr. George Gopen in which attendees learn to apply and practice new principles and techniques of writing.
- Dates and times: July 10 and 11, 12:30 pm-5 pm (must attend both sessions)
- Location: Duke South Amphitheater
- Eligibility: this seminar is only open to faculty, postdocs, and fellows. Spaces are limited.
- Registration fees: There is a $50 fee to register. This is only payable via a Cost Center or WBSE, which will be processed by JV transfer. Sponsored funds cannot be used to pay for this seminar. Connect with your business manager/administrator about the appropriate Cost Center or WBSE to use, if needed.
Write Winning NIH Grant Proposals: A virtual seminar from Grant Writers' Seminars and Workshops focusing on writing successful NIH grant proposals.
- Dates and times: July 26 and 27, 8:30 am-12:30 pm (must attend both sessions)
- Location: Virtual (Zoom)
- Eligibility: All Duke research personnel involved in writing proposals for funding are invited to attend, though the sessions are geared towards faculty who are writing or planning to write NIH grant applications.
- Registration fees: Duke is covering the registration fees for this seminar; however, all registrants are required to purchase the January 2023 version of The Grant Application Writer's Workbook to attend. Proof of purchase will be needed for your registration.
- The workbook costs $90 + tax and shipping; (however, you can use prom code YY0B56TJ7 for a $15 discount)
- Discuss with your business manager or supervisor if the workbook may be purchased using discretionary or other institutional funds
- If you prefer to purchase the NSF version of The Grant Application Writer's Workbook instead of the NIH version, that is allowed. Please note the seminar will be NIH-focused, though.
Write Winning NIH Career Development Award Proposals: A virtual seminar from Grant Writers' Seminars and Workshops focusing on writing a successful NIH Career Development Award grant proposal.
- Date and time: August 11, 8:30 am-12:30 pm
- Location: Virtual (Zoom)
- Eligibility: Recent participation in the Write Winning NIH Grant Proposals seminar is a prerequisite to attend the Write Winning NIH Career Development Award Proposals seminar. Only those who attended the Write Winning NIH Grant Proposals seminar in 2022 or are registering to attend the 2023 session may register for Write Winning NIH Career Development Award Proposals.
