Dr. Ed Hammond provided a brief history of Health Informatics since early attempts at computerizing medical records in the early 1960s to the latest experiments with ChatGPT-3 at the Health Informatics Knowledge Management (HIKM) 2023 Conference. He then explored what he feels is on the horizon for healthcare: globally common terminologies and data elements, data provenance, consistency, quality, trust established globally, the equivalence of precision health with personalized healthcare, the progression of tele-health to virtualized healthcare, etc.
