Open Postdoc Positions

The Landstrom Lab is accepting applications for an immediately available, full-time post-doctoral research fellow to join a growing and energetic lab. He/she will lead an externally funded research project to understand the causes of congenital heart disease, specifically malformations of the heart such as single ventricle cardiac disease.  He/she will plan and conduct experiments independently in close collaboration with Dr. Landstrom and work within a multidisciplinary team of cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, geneticists, and cell biologists.  Anticipated scope of activities will include 1) cell-based biochemical and physiologic work on induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and iPSC-derived cardiac myocytes (iPSC-CMs), 2) biochemical work on surgically obtained human myocardium, 3) genetic work on patient-derived DNA samples. Experience with molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, RNA sequencing, Western blot), previous work with iPSCs and derivation of iPSC-CMs, and cell physiology work (live cell microscopy and imaging) are essential skills.  He/she will assist in manuscript and figure preparation and must possess strong communication skills. Postdoctoral Opportunities in Chromatin Biology and Transcription Regulation

Multiple Postdoctoral Fellowships are immediately available in the Jothi Lab at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH) to study transcriptional and epigenetic control of cell fate decisions.

The Jothi Lab investigates how transcription regulators and chromatin modifications regulate gene expression programs during cellular development and differentiation.Successful candidates will undertake several exciting new projects in the general areas of Chromatin Biology, Epigenetics, and Transcription. They will employ a combination of molecular biology, biochemistry and functional genomics (ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, etc) to elucidate mechanisms of gene regulation.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have obtained a PhD degree in Biological Sciences or a related discipline within the last 5 years, with a strong background in molecular biology and/or protein biochemistry. Excellent communications skills and the ability to work on a variety of projects are essential.

LOCATION: NIEHS main campus is in the Research Triangle Park (RTP), North Carolina. The RTP is the largest research park in US located between Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, and is ~20-minute drive from Duke University, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University.

SALARY/BENEFITS: Successful candidates will be offered competitive stipend/salary commensurate with number of years of postdoctoral experience and accomplishments.

TO APPLY: Please email the following

  • Curriculum vitae,
  • 1-page statement of research interests, and
  • Names of three references via email
