NGS IEG meeting
Please join us for 2023's first NGS IEG meeting. NGS provides an excellent networking opportunity for students interested in joining the private sector after graduation. We gather industry leaders from the RTP area to share, discuss and review their new technologies, research, and big-data platforms in a casual environment with lunch provided.
To start 2023 off right 🎇 we're hosting Michael Kelly from the Franco Lab on January 19th (01/19) to discuss his work in which he and his team identified two salient super-enhancers that influence the proliferation and migration of cancer cells. This seminar will cover how he and his team have [1] identified super-enhancers that were preferentially amplified in patients, [2] probed the function of these enhancers using CRISPR-interference and CRISPR-deletion assays coupled to RNA-Sequencing, [3] used Hi-C to construct chromatin interaction maps which allowed them to understand the direct vs indirect roles of the enhancers, and [4] validated the predictions using biological assays in conjunction with single-cell datasets (created from patient tumors). Together, their multi-omic approach may be extendable to other cancer types (as well as other complex diseases) and may prove useful for understanding, identifying, and treating these diseases.
