
Effective mentoring of trainees and early career faculty is a professional responsibility, and the Office for Faculty is pleased to offer a mentor training program to help equip both novice and experienced mentors with tools and resources to improve mentor-mentee experiences.
Fall 2025 Foundational Mentor Training
Thursdays, November 6, 13, and 20; 3:00-5:00pm via Zoom
This 3-part series covers topics such as:
– Communication
– Aligning Expectations
– Assessing Understanding
– Professional Development
– Cultivating Ethical Behavior
And more
Content is interactive and case-based and is led by a team of experienced faculty and staff facilitators. The course is adapted from the Entering Mentoring series developed by the University of Wisconsin.
Who should attend? This training is open to faculty and senior postdocs in or entering mentoring roles. Material will be most applicable to those mentoring in research environments.
Additional details: Participants should plan to attend all three sessions. The 3-part series meets required mentor training expectations for faculty planning to work with graduate students. Credit will only be given for actual hours attended. RCR credit will be available upon completion of all three sessions.
