Leadership Update: Executive Vice Dean for Clinical Sciences & Research Administration

Geeta K. Swamy, MD, executive vice dean for clinical sciences and research administration, will be leaving Duke to become dean of the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, effective January 1, 2027. Dr. Swamy's last day at Duke will be December 31, 2026.

Dr. Swamy is a distinguished physician-scientist, educator, and academic leader whose contributions have shaped Duke's research, clinical, and educational missions. Throughout her career at Duke, she has advanced nationally recognized research in maternal immunization and women's health, led transformative efforts to strengthen the university's research enterprise, and played a central role in advancing collaboration across the School of Medicine, Duke University, and Duke Health.

Since becoming executive vice dean, Dr. Swamy has provided exceptional leadership across a broad portfolio that spans clinical sciences, research administration, academic strategy, and institutional operations. She has been a trusted advisor and valued colleague whose integrity and commitment to excellence have strengthened our community and advanced our missions in meaningful and lasting ways.
