The Non-clinical School of Medicine Graduate Student Council (NCSOMC) at Recruitment: Supporting OBGE efforts to recruit new graduate students is a key priority of The Non-clinical School of Medicine Graduate Student Council. It is aligned with our goals of promoting inclusion and ensuring that prospective students are aware of student-led support systems awaiting them at Duke. The council was present for all OBGE-hosted recruit visits, represented by three council members - Bukenya, Carlo and Sunag. The trio met and interacted with recruits, sharing their experiences as graduate students at Duke and informing them that they can expect the council to advocate for their interests to administration, and to organize social and academic initiatives that will help them to thrive at Duke. The NCSOMC looks forward to welcoming new recruits in the Fall.
About the Council: The Non-clinical School of Medicine Graduate Student Council is a government for all graduate students within departments and degree-granting programs administered by the Office of Biomedical Graduate Education (OBGE). Its mission is to create a thriving social and academic community for Masters and PhD students within OBGE. It was formed as a result of administrative restructuring of the GPSG in the Spring of 2023 (see new structure in scheme below). It is comprised of three GPSG senators and two representatives per constituent program (formerly known as GPSG department reps). As the council is not yet fully constituted, we’d like to call on all students interested in becoming representatives for their departments to contact us.
