Gersbach Named to National Academy of Inventors

Charles Gersbach, PhD, John W. Strohbehn Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering, has been elected Fellows of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) class of 2022. He is among 169 new fellows this year and join 20 other Duke faculty who have been recognized by the 12-year-old organization since 2014.  Matthew Becker, PhD, professor of chemistry, and Warren Grill, PhD, Edmund T. Pratt, Jr. School Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering, was also elected. 

Gersbach’s research focuses on developing innovative methods in molecular and genetic engineering for applications in regenerative medicine, treating genetic disease, and better understanding fundamental biological processes.   

The NAI is a professional organization that was founded in 2010 to recognize and promote the contributions of inventors to society. The NAI is made up of over 4,000 members, including leading academic inventors from around the world, who have been recognized for their contributions to technology, innovation and creativity.
