Durham Leaders Name New Affordable Housing Project After Joyce Nichols

Share

Durham leaders recently dedicated a new affordable housing project to Joyce Nichols. Nichols, a 1970 graduate of the Duke Physician Assistant Program, was the first Black female Physician Assistant (PA).

In addition to the trails she blazed as a PA, WRAL says Nichols successfully argued a tenants' rights case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The Joyce is under construction next to the J.J. Henderson building, across Duke Street from the current home of the Duke Physician Assistant Program.
