DPT White Coat Ceremony Set for June 6

The DPT Class of 2024 will soon leave campus to begin their final year of clinical experiences. Ninety-five DPT students will mark this milestone by donning their brand new white coats in a ceremony set for 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 6, at Duke Chapel.

The featured speaker will be Michael Schmidt, PT, DPT, MHA. Passionate about teaching and mentoring future physical therapy leaders, Schmidt is the director of ambulatory rehabilitation for the Duke University Health System and residency and fellowship programming for Duke Health. He graduated from the DPT program in 2012 and completed the Duke Orthopaedic Residency and Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship programs in 2013 and 2014, respectively. He earned a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2021. He is a board-certified orthopaedic clinical specialist, a board-certified geriatric clinical specialist, and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.
