Aditee Narayan, MD, was selected as a member of the 2023-2024 class of fellows for the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine® (ELAM) Program at Drexel University College of Medicine; and Nicole Guinn, MD, and Beth Shaz, MD, MBA, were selected as fellows for the parallel Executive Leadership in Health Care Program. ELAM and ELH are prestigious year-long fellowships aimed at expanding the national pool of outstanding women candidates for leadership in academic medicine and healthcare respectively. Fellows are chosen from among a pool of exceptional leaders capable of making critical systematic change in their institutions.
- Dr. Narayan is a Professor of Pediatrics and Associate Dean for Curricular Affairs in the School of Medicine.
- Dr. Guinn is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Interim Chief of Neuroanesthesiology, Otolaryngology and Offsite Anesthesia Division.
- Dr. Shaz is a Professor of Pathology and the Deputy Director of the Marcus Center for Cellular Cures.
Acceptance to ELAM and ELH is highly competitive, and each applicant must be nominated by the dean or chancellor respectively and supported by their chair. There is an internal selection process at Duke, and the institution is able to select only 1-2 individuals per year to apply to the programs. Those interested in considering ELAM or ELH in the future should begin conversations with their chair early, and notify the Office for Faculty of their potential interest.
Congratulations Drs. Narayan, Guinn, and Shaz!
