Navigating the leap from midcareer faculty to senior leadership in academic medicine and science can feel uncertain and overwhelming without the right guidance and support. The Midcareer Faculty Leadership Development Seminar focuses on building the leadership knowledge and skills needed to prepare for advancement and promotion.  

Through a combination of general sessions and customizable small group breakouts, faculty will explore core leadership concepts, address mission-critical responsibilities, and create a personalized roadmap for career progression.

What to Expect?

Over three days, you’ll take part in engaging plenaries and panels, interactive small group breakouts, and will have ample opportunity to network with peers facing similar challenges. Specific topics that will be covered during the seminar include:  

  • Persuasive communication 
  • Negotiation 
  • Enhancing your visibility 
  • Strategic career transitions and planning 
  • Funding the academic mission 
  • Managing and navigating sponsorships 

Who Should Apply?

  • Associate professors with a minimum of 2 years at rank
  • Individuals with demonstrated leadership ability that may include formal administrative, organizational (local or national), or other types of informal leadership roles.
  • Applicants are strongly recommended to be considering, or in the process of, seeking promotion and advancement opportunities
