I’m currently working as a contractor for Therapeutic Solutions of NC, Dr. Tomeico Faison’s company, as an OT consultant. I'm based out of Durham with a hybrid schedule, seeing clients in the community and sometimes working from home. I provide OT consultation services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their care teams.

I also work with HomeLink, Dr. Antoine Bailliard's program, where I provide free OT services to adults with serious mental illness who are currently experiencing homelessness or are at risk of becoming unhoused in Raleigh.

I've mostly been focused on work, but I really enjoy working in an emerging practice area. I get to do a ton of networking and program development, and I enjoy developing and supporting community partnerships. For example, I recently took a group of HomeLink clients to their local library, where I collaborated with librarians to facilitate community participation and help folks get their library cards.

My OT education has been essential to my practice. There's no playbook for the OT work I do now like there was during my hand therapy fieldwork. I have to rely a lot on the concepts I learned and think seriously about contextual factors every day.

I wouldn't be in my current position had I not made a pitch to Dr. Faison during our Innovation and Entrepreneurship class! I always wanted to do consultant work as an OT and never thought I would be able to as a new grad. I'm grateful to Duke OTD and Dr. Faison for the opportunity to be innovative in my practice.
