Stacy L. Waters, MBA,  serves as Vice President of Duke Health Development and Alumni Affairs, where she leads the philanthropic, engagement, and strategic advancement enterprise across Duke University School of Medicine, Duke University Health System, and key centers, institutes, and initiatives. She also is a principal advisor to Duke University leadership on philanthropy related to healthcare, medical education, and research.

A seasoned leader in academic medicine, complex health systems, and organizational strategy, Waters brings deep expertise in building and leading high-performing teams; executing large-scale campaigns; securing transformational gifts; and advancing grateful patient, alumni, and volunteer engagement.

Before joining Duke in November 2024, Waters held senior leadership roles as the first Associate Vice President for Development at the Dell Medical School and UT Health Austin at the University of Texas; Associate Vice President for Development at UChicago Medicine and the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago; and Foundation President at Roper St. Francis Healthcare in Charleston, South Carolina. Across these institutions, she earned a reputation for building and scaling high-impact development programs, cultivating transformative donor and alumni relationships, and leading record-setting campaigns.

Waters reports jointly to the Duke University Health System Chief Executive Officer and the Duke University Executive Vice President for Health Affairs and Dean of the School of Medicine.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago and her MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
