Seminar Abstract: "Healthcare is late to digital transformation." The phrase is well-worn, but today's hospital and health system reality necessitates an enterprise-wide analytics strategy. What is that reality? In 2023, hospitals and health systems face an environment that is perhaps generously described as "daunting." According to Fitch, the sector just lived through "the worst operating year on record," while facing a once-in-a-generation workforce crisis and of course the aftershocks of a once-in-a-century pandemic. But just what are the pressures of this environment that make digital transformation table stakes, what's really happening on the ground today and what's in store for the future? Tune into this seminar to find out. Instructor Biosketch: Chris joined the AHA in January, 2023, as the senior vice president and chief physician executive of the organization, and will lead the association's physician leadership agenda and partner closely with the AHA CNO to deepen and expand clinical initiatives, while also serving a as a key spokesperson contributing to advancing AHA's efforts in public policy development, innovation, transformation and equity of care. Prior to joining the AHA, Chris served as System Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Quality at WakeMed Health & Hospitals in Raleigh, N.C. Chris was responsible for value-based care, care transformation, quality, patient safety, analytics, population health, and medical staff initiatives across the integrated health system. Chris also has served as chief medical officer and advisory board member of Prealize, an artificial intelligence-enabled predictive analytics company that uses machine learning to drive improved care. Prior to that, Chris was Chief Quality Officer for Mission Health in Asheville, N.C., where he led continuous improvement efforts that advanced patient care and improved the health of rural North Carolinians.
