Smith, MD, Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle Topic: Amputation Surgery and Prosthetics: Now and the Future Doug Smith is a professor of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle and an attending physician at Harborview Medical Center, the University of Washington Medical Center, and Seattle Veterans Medical Center. Doug is a consultant surgeon to the U.S. Army at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C., and Brooke Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston in Texas. His areas of expertise are limb amputation, reconstructive surgery, prosthetics, and rehabilitation. Doug has been actively involved in research throughout his career, authored numerous publications, lectured worldwide, and holds a U.S. patent.
