Each spring, parents and family members of current Duke medical students come together for the day to experience first-hand what's it like to be a Duke medical student. Sessions may include mock admissions interviews, diagnosing a patient via a clinical skills demonstration, using team-based-learning (TBL) to tackle a case study, practicing skills in the SEAL Lab (Surgical Education and Activities Lab), and having lunch with the Advisory Deans.

Medical Student/Faculty Show

Friday, March 1, 2024
7:00pm | Reynolds Theater

The Student/Faculty Show is an annual event written, directed, and performed by our very own talented medical students. This year's show is entitled The Greatest Med Student….and is a musical parody of The Greatest Showman.

Greatest Med Student

PT is a passionate, ambitious medical student from humble beginnings excited to start at DukeMed. With each new dazzling opportunity that comes her way, PT must reconsider her priorities and reflect on what really matters in her life while navigating the highs and lows medicine has to offer. Come experience “The Greatest Show on Earth!”

Past shows have included Sickened (a parody of “Wicked”), Duke’s Avengers: Civil Ward (“Marvel’s Avengers: Civil War”), Lube (“Grease”), and The Gunner Games (“The Hunger Games”).

The Student/Faculty Show is an annual DukeMed tradition in which students and faculty collaborate to create a parody musical of the medical school experience with all proceeds going to a local nonprofit. This year's proceeds will help provide funds to The Durham Children's Initiative (DCI).

DCI is a beacon of hope and opportunity for the youth of Durham, North Carolina. Committed to breaking the cycle of poverty and providing every child with a pathway to success, DCI offers a comprehensive array of programs and services tailored to meet the unique needs of the community. From early childhood education and academic support to health services and family engagement, DCI is dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child, regardless of their circumstances. By fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, DCI empowers children to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.

Along with the ticket sales, funds are also raised from direct donations, raffle entries, and a silent auction, all of which are available on the RallyUp website.
