We need to change our culture to Be Positive- Its Contagious
Most of us respond better to recognition than to constructive criticism. Do you part to recognize people!
Individuals may Celebrate the Positive—be it clinical education, a positive learning environment, the curriculum or professionalism of a student or faculty
Why should I celebrate the positive?
We’d like to focus more on the positive here at Duke. Most of us feel better about being recognized for what we are doing well rather than the things that we could improve upon. Naturally, we tend to be critical of ourselves and each other, that is how we got to Duke and how we improve each day.
So tell us about the unsung heroes in education and clinical care. The teachers who are doing great work, but not recognized for it! We can help distribute the Celebrations to Department Chairs, Wards, the Health system, etc.
What kinds of actions are worth noted as a celebration?
Anything! Great teaching. Great clinical care. Profound professionalism. Mentorship. A focus on safety. Anything you value as noting celebration is something we want to celebrate.
