Duke University Awards Four School of Medicine Faculty Distinguished Professorships

Professorships recognize both exceptional achievement and the potential for future achievement. They are awarded to our most distinguished physician and nurse scientists and clinicians, as well as to junior faculty members who have demonstrated extraordinary scholarship in advancing medical science and human health.

"We established a professorship as a way to show our appreciation, and to provide support for doctors to further their expertise, pursue research for many years to come, and develop new ways to care for future patients."

Lyn Proctor with her late husband Gary Hock, established three endowed positions at Duke, most recently the Hock Family Surgery Professorship.

Endowed professorships are Duke Medicine’s most prestigious faculty appointments
