Clinical Science Promotion Process - Archive

The content herein has been superseded by the 2020 Clinical Sciences APT Guidelines effective July 1, 2020 for new faculty (start date on or after July 1, 2020) and existing faculty effective January 1, 2021 (absent exercising of the option to opt-out of the new APT Guidelines until subsequent promotion or December 30, 2025, whichever occurs first).    


All Regular Rank non-tenure track and tenure track appointments, without tenure Medical Instructors and Assistant Professors are approved at the department level and come forward to Appointments, Promotion and Tenure (APT) for information to the Board of Trustees (BOT).

All Regular Rank non-tenure track and tenure track, without tenure Associate Professors are approved at the department level and come forward to APT for information  to the Medical Center Executive Committee (MCEC) and the BOT.

All Regular Rank recommendations conferring tenure and promotions to full professor are reviewed and approved by the School’s MCAPT committee, the MCEC and the BOT.  After the Medical Center Appointment, Promotion and Tenure (MCAPT), MCEC and the BOT provide a final approval the APT office issues a letter of approval to the faculty member. Tenure recommendations are not approved in dFac until after the BOT .
