Changing Landscape of Inhertied Cancer: Use of Electronic Medical Record to Improve Patient Care

Dr. Georgia L. Wiesner is a Professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Medical Genetics and has spent the majority of her career in the fast evolving area of cancer genetics. She serves as the founding Director of the Clinical and Translational Hereditary Cancer Program in the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, a NCI designated comprehensive cancer center. Established in 2012, this program is devoted to the care of patients and families with an increased risk for cancer. To date, over 5000 patients have been evaluated in this program. Dr. Wiesner's research interests include family based studies for colon cancer and the translation of genetic tests into clinical care. Current projects include membership in the eMERGE III network, that is sequencing and returning the results for about 100 genes for a 25000 participant cohort.
